Deputies search for Columbia man after SWAT team raids home
Deputies were searching for a Columbia man after raiding a home on W. Bellview Drive on Sunday.
Deputies armed with long guns searched the home Sunday afternoon for several hours during an attempt to arrest Davion H. Gross, 22.
Authorities, including the SWAT team, surrounded the home in the 4500 block of W. Bellview and used a megaphone to communicate with Gross. Officers equipped with firearms and riot shields moved around the home around 4 p.m.
Deputies told ABC 17 News crews shortly before 4:30 p.m. that no one was inside the home. Authorities cleared the area and reopened the road.
Sgt. Brian Leer with the Boone County Sheriff's Dept. said deputies were initially called to the area around 12:15 p.m. for a suspicious incident.
"Our goal in everything is a peaceful resolution," Leer told ABC 17 News.
Gross had warrants out for his arrest, including failure to appear in court, resisting arrest and driving in a careless manner. He is now wanted on suspicion of fourth-degree domestic assault and first-degree property damage.
There is no active threat to the community, Leer said.
