Burglary suspect has long criminal history
COLUMBIA, Mo. (KMIZ)
Dorice Reue Smith, 27, of Columbia, was taken into custody Friday after police say he barricaded himself inside a residence on Rocky Fork Drive.
On Friday, police tried to arrest Smith in connection with a Tuesday burglary at the Arch Apartments.
Friday's standoff was not Smith's first run-in with the law in Boone County.
Court documents show Smith has a lengthy criminal history as an adult in Missouri.
Police arrested Smith for allegedly stealing a woman's purse in 2017. He's also accused of urinating and defecating in a patrol vehicle while being transported to the Boone County Jail .
In 2017 Smith wrote a letter to a judge in which he said, "I'm not supposed to tell you this but I am guilty of my charges and that's how I'm going to plead in your court," in connection with a separate, drug delivery case.
