COLUMBIA, Mo. (KMIZ)

The City of Columbia planned to call in plow crews from various city departments on Tuesday morning to help with snow and ice removal.

Crews were starting to clear streets downtown Tuesday morning and were planning on working outward from there for the rest of the day.

A 25-person plow crew reported at 7 a.m. on Tuesday for a 12-hour day shift to focus on priority routes and all city streets after an additional 1.5 inches of snow fell Monday night.

Drivers should give themselves additional time while driving on Tuesday, a Columbia Public Works spokesperson said in a news release.

Editor's note: A previous version of this story incorrectly stated that other cities would be involved in snow removal.
