Rockslide closes one lane of 54 in Osage Beach

OSAGE BEACH, Mo. (KMIZ)

The City of Osage Beach opened one lane of Highway 54 in Camden County on Monday morning after it was closed due to a rockslide.

One lane of Highway 54 and the Case Road exit were still closed Monday as the Missouri Department of Transportation continued cleanup efforts.

The rockslide caused two crashes, according to the City of Osage Beach. One person was transported to Lake Regional Hospital with minor injuries after a rock fell on the front end of his car. Another person ran into a rock that had fallen in the area, causing damage to their car. They were not hurt in the incident.

Lt. Mike O'Day said eastbound lanes of the highway, just west of Case Rd, were impacted by the slide on Sunday.

Highway 54 traffic was diverted to Nichols Rd as OBPD worked with MoDOT to clean up the rubble, O'Day said.

It's not clear what caused the rockslide.
