Gorgeous weather continues as a strong storm system lurks
TUESDAY: It’s a gorgeous afternoon to get out and enjoy the sunshine and beautiful weather as highs continue to climb into the low to mid 70s. We’ll pick up a few late day clouds, but the sunglasses will still come in handy through this evening.
TONIGHT: Another quiet night looks to unfold around Mid-Missouri. We’ll hang on to partly cloudy skies as temperatures cool off once again to near 50 overnight. Winds will be turning toward a more southeasterly direction and steadily be picking up.
EXTENDED: These winds are shifting in response to a warm front lifting through the region, bringing breezy conditions to the area, along with a warmer Wednesday. Gusts will reach near and in some locations exceed 30 mph as temperatures make it into the middle to upper 70s as clouds increase throughout the day. Gusty winds will stick with us Thursday and Friday, with some reaching in excess of 40 mph Thursday. This is all courtesy of a strong area of low pressure intensifying over the Midwest. As impressive as this system is, we may not receive much more than cloud cover and the aforementioned winds. We could pick up some scattered showers Wednesday night into Thursday as the cold front swings through. Much cooler air moves in behind the system on Friday, with temperatures in the afternoon struggling to make it back to 50 degrees. We’ll be tracking our next shot at rain Saturday night into Sunday.
