City of Columbia to distribute surplus used computers

Surplus computers in Columbia found new homes on Saturday.

The City of Columbia, Voluntary Action Center and Downtown Optimist Club partnered to provide used computers to people enrolled in the VAC through the Homes for Computers Program..

Those chosen to receive the computers picked them up starting at 9 a.m. at the Downtown Optimist Club building.

Before this program was approved in 2003, the city got rid of surplus computers through the University of Missouri.
