Teen charged in Mexico homicide
At least one person has been charged in connection with a Friday homicide in Mexico, Missouri.
Dekhise E. Dorsey and two 15-year-olds turned themselves in Saturday after they were involved in the shooting death of 27-year-old Tajuan Williams.
Officers arrived at Muldrow Street at about 5:30 p.m. Friday and found Williams with a gunshot wound to his torso, according to a probable cause statement. Williams was conscious at the time and told police “the Dorseys” shot him, the statement said.
Police questioned people at a child’s birthday party nearby, and two witnesses said Dorsey and the two juveniles got in a fight with Williams and that one of the juveniles had a handgun and shot it at Williams.
Williams later died at the SSM-Audrain emergency room.
Later during questioning, Dorsey told police he saw Williams at a birthday party in the 500 block of Muldrow, and Dorsey, along with the two juveniles, confronted Williams about previous issues, court documents said. A fight then broke out, and Dorsey said Williams ran away. Dorsey then said he heard a single gunshot and told police that the person who shot Williams did not mean to.
The two juveniles involved refused to be questions, documents said. The two 15-year-olds were taken to detention centers by the 12th Circuit Court Juvenile Division.
Dorsey was charged with second-degree murder, first-degree assault, armed criminal action and unlawful use of a weapon.
