Sex offender charged with not reporting Facebook account

A 67-year-old Columbia sex offender has been arrested after authorities said he didn’t tell them he had a Facebook account.

Donald W. Fisher, who was convicted in 2016 of four counts of child molestation, was arrested last Wednesday for a probation and parole violation. Prosecutors later charged him with failure to register as a sex offender after Fisher admitted to a Boone County Sheriff’s Department detective that he had set up a Facebook account without notifying authorities as required by state law.

Fisher told the detective he created the account to instant message and video chat with friends.

Fisher was being held Wednesday on no bond for the probation and parole violation and $10,000 bond on the failure to register charge. No lawyer for Fisher was listed in online court records.
