Tractor-trailer driver charged with DWI did not have CDL, troopers say

A Texas driver who crashed a tractor-trailer over the weekend did not have a commercial drivers’ license, or CDL, according to the Missouri State Highway Patrol.

Juan Gonzalez, 44, was arrested Monday after troopers said he went off the right side of the road and flipped a 2017 Freightliner, totaling the vehicle.

According to a probable cause statement, Gonzalez had a blood alcohol level of 0.206 percent. Troopers said he has three prior arrests for driving while intoxicated is from Texas and has no ties to Missouri.

According to the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration, one of the most frequent driver violations in inspections in 2017 was operating a commercial motor vehicle without a CDL.

Gonzalez was no longer listed as an inmate in the Boone County Jail as of Wednesday night. A court date has not yet been set.
