Temporary prosecutor appointed in Moniteau County
Moniteau County again has a prosecuting attorney.
Presiding Circuit Judge Kenneth Hayden on Wednesday appointed California, Missouri, attorney Ann Perry as temporary prosecutor after Shayne Healea’s resignation Tuesday, deputy Moniteau County clerk Darlene Oliver said.
Healea resigned as part of a plea deal in his assault case. He pleaded guilty Tuesday to four misdemeanors after he was charged with four counts of felony assault and one count of leaving the scene of an accident after backing his truck into a glass block wall at Addison’s restaurant in downtown Columbia in October 2014. Four people were hurt when debris hit them.
Gov. Mike Parson will appoint Healea’s replacement.
Healea, who was unopposed in the November general election, has also removed his name from the ballot. Oliver said the clerk’s office believes parties can nominate candidates to put on the ballot after Healea’s withdrawal.
