Two arrested after Cole County vehicle chase
Cole County Deputies stopped a car on US Bus 50 near Geld Street on Wednesday.
According to a press release, when a second patrol car arrived on scene to help, the suspect vehicle sped off and a vehicle pursuit started.
The majority of the pursuit went through the Westview Heights area.
A deputy was able to get in front of the pursuit and set up a spike strip on Horner Street by Country Club Drive. The vehicle tires were spiked, deflating the passenger side tires. Cole County Deputies, MSHP and JCPD continued their pursuit of the damaged vehicle, which ended behind Farm Bureau when the tire went to the rims.
The release said the entire pursuit lasted less than 17 minutes.
The driver was on probation for first-degree robbery and was in possession of a firearm.
The passenger was in possession of drug paraphernalia and a small amount of marijuana.
The driver is being held for resisting arrest by fleeing, being a felon in possession of a firearm, possession of marijuana and a traffic offense.
