6-year-old girl hit by truck while riding bike

A 6 year-old girl was taken to University Hospital in Columbia after getting hit by a truck in Jefferson City, according to police.

Police said they went to the 600 block of Delaware Street at 6:15 p.m. Friday. They claim the bicycle did not stop before crossing westbound on Delaware Street, and the driver did not have time to avoid hitting her. Officers also report she was not wearing a helmet at the time.

A 51 year-old man from Jefferson City was driving the 2006 Ford F-250 as it was heading northbound in the 600 block of Delaware Street by St. Marys Boulevard.
