Severe storms possible Saturday, warm and dry Sunday

TONIGHT: It will be warm and muggy with lows near 70. We are watching storms forming in Nebraska and Kansas in the evening which are expected to drop to the southeast and move into areas near HWY 65 as early as 3 AM. Strong to severe storms are possible as they first move in with damaging wind the primary threat. These will also contain heavy rain.

SATURDAY: A Weather Alert Day has been issued for Saturday for the potential of severe storms. Early morning storms will decrease in intensity as they move east and out of the area by late morning. However, depending on how fast clouds can clear behind the morning rain, new storm development could occur as early as 1-2 PM ahead of a cold front. All of Mid-Missouri is in a slight risk for severe storms with the primary threats damaging winds and large hail. There is also a low tornado threat with these storms. It looks like areas southeast of HWY 54 in the Ozarks have a better chance of storms Saturday afternoon. Temperatures will reach the mid 80s with winds shifting to the northwest as storms move out by early evening.

EXTENDED: Skies will clear Saturday night with lows dropping to near 60 as northwesterly winds continue at 6-10 mph. Sunday looks beautiful with lower humidity and high temperatures in the lower 80s under mostly sunny skies. All of next week looks to be dry with rising temperatures back into the upper 80s by Thursday.
