Columbia police arrest woman accused of trying to steal groceries from HyVee

Columbia police arrested Dawniejean Hinton on Tuesday afternoon after officers were dispatched to HyVee on Conley Road for reports of shoplifting.

Hinton was accused of pushing a shopping cart full of merchandise out of the store without paying for it. Employees were able to stop Hinton as she was pushing the cart through the first set of doors.

Officers also determined Hinton had two active warrants for her arrest.

Hinton faces possible charges of stealing.
