Inmate at Jefferson City Correctional Center who pleaded guilty to murder dies

COLUMBIA, Mo. (KMIZ)

An inmate at Jefferson City Correctional Center died on Tuesday, according to a Wednesday press release from the Missouri Department of Corrections.

The release says Brandon Church, 34, was pronounced dead at Capital Region Medical Center.

He was serving a 25-year sentence for second-degree murder in Platte County and was received by the DOC on May 20, 2014, the release says.

According to News-Press Now, Church was originally on trial for first-degree murder in the death of Kerry Deyo. He had pleaded guilty on Thursday, April 10, 2014 to second-degree murder, News-Press reported.
