Police: Ashland man arrested after making threat toward state representative office in January

A man who was wanted and charged with making a terrorist threat against Rep. Vicky Hartzler’s office in January, was arrested Tuesday afternoon, Columbia police say.

According to probable cause statements, police were dispatched to reports of a threat made over the phone from Jeffery O’Laughlin Jan. 24.

Police said they made contact with O’Laughlin the next day and took him to a local hospital for evaluation.

O’Laughlin was charged with making a terroristic threat in the second degree on Jan. 26, along with a warrant issued for his arrest with a $50,000 bond.

Police said they arrested O’Laughlin at 3 Hospital Drive around 3:30 p.m. Tuesday.
