A brief break from the cold, but winter weather could impact your weekend
THURSDAY: After a cold start, it will feel more comfortable outdoors as temperatures climb into the upper 40s with mostly sunny skies and southwesterly winds up to 10 mph.
TONIGHT: With winds out of the south up to 11 mph temperatures will be a tad warmer tonight, but they will still drop towards freezing. Wind chills will be in the mid 20s by tomorrow morning under partly cloudy conditions.
EXTENDED: Temperatures will reach the mid 40s Friday with more clouds moving in ahead of our next storm system which will affect us from Friday night through Saturday night. A west/east oriented cold front will slowly slide through Mid-Missouri Friday night, dropping temperatures below freezing. Freezing drizzle is possible Friday night as this front moves through with a chance of light snow showers north of I-70. Heading into Saturday, moisture moving in aloft from the west with waves of low pressure, will cause snow to develop mainly north of I-70 by afternoon but farther south, freezing rain is possible before briefly turning to snow Saturday night. A lot can change between now and Saturday, but trends are suggesting we’ll have a chance of ice and light snow. It will remain cold this weekend, with temperatures in the upper 20s. By early next week temperatures will rebound back into the 40s. Watch ABC 17 News for the newest forecast and check back here for updates.
