Jefferson City High School goes into lockdown Thursday morning

UPDATE 1:18 pm: Jefferson City Public School officials said the incident in question involved a student banging on a locked door.

Officials said the loud banging sounds resembled the sound of gunshots which initiated the lockdown.

Officials said the staff and students all handled the situation very well.

ORIGINAL: Jefferson City Public Schools officials said on Thursday morning just before 8 a.m. the high school went into lockdown.

Officials said the lockdown was implemented because there was a strange noise heard on the second floor of the building.

The lockdown was lifted at 8:11 a.m.

Administrators continue to look into the incident to piece together what exactly led to the lockdown.
