Columbia Police Officer’s Association warns public it is not fundraising by phone

On Wednesday, the Columbia Police Officers’ Association executive director, Dale Roberts, warned the public that the group is not fundraising by the phone.

Roberts said they were getting reports of telephone calls from someone who says he is raising money for the police but will not give any details.

Roberts said the phone number of this individual has a St. Louis area code, sometimes showing up from Kansas City.

Roberts warns it is not from the association or any organization it is affiliated with.

Roberts said, “It sounds very much like a scam.”
