Public hearings on price increase for parking, golf passes to be held tomorrow

Public hearings on a proposed increase for parking permits and golf passes are on the schedule for the City Council meeting Tuesday.

The parking garage at 8th and Ash streets and the garage at 8th & Cherry avenue could see an increase in monthly and annual parking permits. The proposal from public works would increase monthly permits by $20, and annual permits by $220.

According to the council memo those changes would bring in over $60,000 annually, which is roughly the same as the elevator maintenance costs from the last fiscal year.

The proposed changes in parking permit costs would go into effect Jan. 1, 2018.

As for golf passes, the proposal by Parks & Recreation would increase prices for various passes by different amounts. The cost of an 18-hole green fee would increase by $1 on weekdays and $2 on weekends. Longer passes, such as the total individual pass, could increase by more than $50.

The changes would bring in approximately over $46,000 a year and would go towards the Recreation Service Fund.

These proposed changes would be in effect from Oct. 1, 2017 until Sept. 30, 2018.
