Governor signs mulitple bills, including Senate Bill 43

Governor Eric Greitens signed multiple bills on Friday, including Senate Bill 43.

The bill will make Missouri lawsuit standards like the standards that 38 other states use. The bill requires a “motivating factor” standard in employee discrimination cases.

“Tort reform is important,” said Governor Greitens. “We need to prevent trial lawyers from killing good jobs.”

Federal courts and the US Equal Employment Opportunity Commission uses this standard as well.
