Columbia City Council to set public hearing for new roundabout

At a meeting Monday night, Columbia City Council will decide whether or not to hold a public hearing on plans for a new roundabout.

The city is considering building a roundabout at the intersection of Vandiver Drive and Parker Street.

Columbia Public Works crews first debuted the design for the roundabout on May 10 at an interested parties meeting.

Several residents and businesses went to the meeting to voice their concerns about the intersection.

A couple of the most recent plans for roundabouts in Columbia have been opposed by residents, but that is not the case for the intersection of Vandiver Drive and Parker Street.

The majority of the people at the interested parties meeting wanted to know how a roundabout in the intersection could be built sooner.

The city council meeting starts at 7 p.m. Monday at city hall.
