UPDATE: Area of Highway 124 reopens in Hallsville; truck crashes into utility pole

UPDATE 8:20 a.m.: Crews have reopened the area of Highway 124 that was closed after a large truck crashed into a utility pole Saturday morning.

UPDATE 7:15 a.m.: Power has been restored to the Ameren customer after a large truck crashed into a utility pole in Hallsville Saturday morning.

ORIGINAL STORY: A large truck crashed into a utility pole near the 400 block of Highway 124 around 5 a.m. Saturday.

Boone County Fire Protection District firefighters and Hallsville police responded to the crash and closed the area because the utility pole was damaged.

Firefighters told ABC 17 News crews that the driver of the truck was not injured and the truck had little damage.

Ameren, the power company in charge of the area, sent crews to the crash to assess the damage and repair it accordingly.

As of 6:45 a.m. Saturday, only one customer is without power.

Firefighters said the area will be closed for at least two hours or until the utility pole is fixed.
