Columbia man arrested for assault and property damage

The Columbia Police Department was called to the 1500 block of Tupelo Place on Sunday because of a domestic assault between two people in a relationship.

After investigating, the police found out that the victim heard a knock at the door and when she answered it, Eric Lawhorn pushed the door open and ran inside.

Lawhorn ran to the back bedroom where the victim was and forced the door open, causing damage to the door frame. Lawhorn wrapped his arms around the victim and drug her outside to the car.

The officer saw scratches on the victim’s stomach and upper lip. Lawhorn wasn’t there when officers arrived at the scene.

Lawhorn was arrested on Wednesday at Murfreesboro Drive and Grace Lane for first degree burglary, fourth degree domestic assault, harassment, second degree property damage, felony warrant for failure to appear on the original charge of controlled substance with a bond of $10,000 and a misdemeanor warrant for failure to appear on drugs with a bond of $2,500.
