Wednesday evening rain & flooding update

Rain will continue Wednesday night and taper off from west to east Thursday morning through afternoon. Highest rainfall amounts of 1-3″ additional rainfall from 7 PM Wednesday through Thursday are expected east of HWY 63 with lower amounts west. Flooding will be ongoing into Thursday with some rivers are forecast to still be above flood stage as we head into the weekend.

Many low water crossings and low lying areas are already flooded and additional rain will keep flooding going into Thursday. Major rivers will continue to slowly rise or hold steady through Thursday before slowly falling Friday into the weekend. Small creeks and streams could rise quickly where heaviest rain falls Wednesday night with areas along and south of HWY 54 most susceptible to flash flooding.

River levels and forecasts are constantly changing so it’s best to check latest conditions along with the latest road conditions if your are traveling.
