Eldon man linked to bank robbery found in Alabama
UPDATE 2:21 p.m.: ABC 17 News reached out to Miller County officials, and received more information about Cooper’s arrest in Alabama.
Cooper was arrested by Alabama federal law enforcement officers on a criminal warrant issued by Miller County.
On Sept. 8, Cooper was charged with a class B felony of second degree robbery. He is in custody in Alabama with a $75,000 cash bond, and also has unrelated pending charges in Alabama.
ORIGINAL STORY: A man that was a suspect in the Citizens Bank South robbery has been apprehended Wednesday in Alabama by United States Marshalls.
Russell E. Cooper was on the run after he robbed the bank on July 18.
After approaching the drive-thru window, Cooper displayed a note on a paper towel to the teller, who then gave him everything in her drawer. Than bank manager later counted the money and confirmed that Cooper took a total of $9,705 during the robbery.
Terry Whittle Jr. is another suspect in the case, who allegedly helped hide the money that Cooper stole. Whittle Jr. also has a previous burglary charge from a few days prior to the bank robbery for robbing a liquor store.
