Crews respond to Columbia house fire
The Columbia Fire Department responded to a house fire in west Columbia on Wednesday afternoon.
Firefighters said they were called out to the 2500 block of Longview Drive around 3:45 p.m. after they received several phone calls from neighbors.
Crews reported seeing smoke from Scott Boulevard.
At the scene, firefighters found smoke and flames coming from the back of the home at 2501 Longview Drive.
The department said it was able to gain control of the fire within 25 minutes.
No one was inside of the home, but crews safely rescued two dogs who were cared for by a neighbor.
Fire investigators have not released information on how much damage was done to the home or what sparked the fire.
