Halli Bruton, a Mizzou grad, moved to Jacksonville, Florida last winter. ABC 17 News spoke with her Friday night as parts of the hurricane hit Jacksonville.

Bruton describes seeing consistent rain and winds for the last few days. She also describes a thunderstorm that came through. She says she is the only person she knows of in the area that still has power at her apartment. She says her friends have flooded yards, downed trees, downed power lines at their homes.

Growing up in Missouri, Bruton decided to prepare for a hurricane like she would an ice storm. She stocked up on supplies that would last her a couple of days and was prepared to go without power. Bruton also mentioned she filled up her bathtub with water in case water and sewer system is affected. She tells us she pushed her couch up against her patio door in case of very strong winds.
