Another elevator outage leaves some Paquin Tower residents trapped in building

Crews were still working to fix an elevator in Paquin Tower Thursday afternoon.

ABC 17 News first reported on the issues with elevators there on Friday.

You’ll recall we told you an elevator outage means some residents in wheelchairs can’t leave the building.

The Columbia Housing Authority says crews have been trying to fix the elevator since 2:00 Thursday morning.

CHA says right now it’s completing major renovations at Paquin Towers, which includes replacing the building’s two elevators.

CHA says while they’re replacing the first elevator, there may be outages due to malfunctions with the old one. Each elevator apparently will take 10 to 12 weeks to replace.

The old elevator is expected to running again sometime Thursday afternoon while the new elevator is expected to be fully installed and running by early October.
