Gov. Nixon tours new facility at Fulton State Hospital
Gov. Jay Nixon toured the first of several new buildings at Fulton State Hospital on Thursday.
The Energy Control Center and Services building will house maintenance shops, emergency command center and communication hub, and computer information services.
The building cost just over $23 million. Officials said it was completed on time and on budget.
“The replacement of the outdated and dangerous facility was long overdue, and the new state-of-the-art mental hospital will provide safer conditions that are more conducive to modern treatment for generations to come,” said Gov. Jay Nixon.
Construction crews have cleared the way for several new buildings on the property. The entire project is expected to be completed in 2019 at a cost of $211 million.
