Mid-Missouri Democrats hold Caucus

Mid-Missouri Democrats gathered at Gentry Middle School in Columbia Thursday night to elect delegates for both district and state Democratic conventions.

22 delegates and 22 alternates, half men and half women, were expected to be chosen to attend the Congressional District Convention on April 28 and the Missouri State Convention on June 18.

ABC 17 News spoke with a delegate hopeful early in the night about the importance of getting involved with politics on a local level.

“I believe in getting involved at the bottom,” said Abigail Elmer. “Even though a lot of us are here to ultimately go the national convention, it’s what you do on the local level that is important.”

The Republican Caucus is Saturday at 10:00 a.m. at the Holiday Inn Executive Center.
