Firefighters respond to grass fire in Boone County

Boone County firefighters responded to a grass fire southeast of Columbia Saturday.

Crews responded to the 4700 block of Turkey Trail Drive just after 1:00 p.m.

Gale Blomenkamp with the Boone County Fire Protection District said it started as a controlled burn and got out of control with a gust of wind.

The flames burned about a half acre.
