Mid-Missouri man pleads not guilty in trooper’s death

A Mid-Missouri man will be back in court next month to face charges in the death of a Mid-Missouri trooper.

ABC 17 News has learned Serghei Comerzan pleaded not guilty to charges stemming back to the August death of 25-year-old James Bava.

A judge denied Comerzan’s request in December and raised his bond for second degree murder and resisting arrest.

Officials said Comerzan was on a motorcycle and tried to escape Bava, who was following him for speeding in Audrain Co.

Bava ended up crashing on Highway FF near the Boone Co. line and died.
