Power restored in Camden County after almost 12 hour outage
Power was restored Monday evening for nearly 700 Ameren customers amid freezing temperatures.
Power went out around 4:30 Monday morning. Ameren said mainly customers near Bagnell Dam were impacted by the outage.
ABC 17 Stormtrack Meteorologist Brittany Beggs said it was around 12 degrees in the impacted area Monday afternoon with a wind chill of zero.
Nearly 700 people were impacted by the outage. By Monday afternoon though, that number dropped to about 400. Ameren said power had been restored to all customers by 4:00 Monday afternoon.
Ameren official tell us the cold weather is partly to blame for the outage. They said a wire failure near Horseshoe Bend caused the power outage. He said cold weather contributed to the wire failure.
Ameren said its crews were working to repair the wire. It expected to have power restored by 3:30 Monday afternoon.
