Monday Will Be Cold, But a Warm Up is In Sight
Monday is anticipated to be the coldest day out of the upcoming work week. As high pressure currently in the western half of the Great Plains shifts to the east by Monday morning, Missouri will receive the associated chilling northerly flow that will push frigid Canadian air into the region.
Temperatures on Monday will only top off in the lower thirties, with areas to the north of Highway 24 barely reaching the thirty-degree mark. Daytime highs are anticipated to remain below average, with the average for this time of year sitting at 38 degrees for Columbia, Missouri.
As the center of high pressure continues to slide eastward, Mid-Missouri will begin to receive a warming southerly backflow by Tuesday, pushing temperatures into the 40s for the remainder of the work week.
