Emergency crews respond to three structure fires in Jefferson City

Jefferson City firefighters responded to three structure fires Saturday.

Around 4:30 p.m., crews were dispatched to a fire at 1017 Dulle Street, according to Fire Chief Matt Schofield. Firefighters found smoke coming from the home.

A woman and one child were evacuated from the apartment. The fire damaged the kitchen area of the home, where the fire started. There was also moderate smoke and heat damage throughout the single apartment.

Around 6:45 p.m., crews were dispatched to a second structure fire at at apartment in the 500 block of Ellis Boulevard.

Firefighters found flames around the kitchen cabinets and quickly put out the fire, Schofield said. The fire was caused by unattended cooking.

Around 8:30 p.m., crews responded to a third structure fire in the 3600 block of Gettysburg Place after a reported lightning strike.

Firefighters found signs of damage to the electrical system of the home, a tree in the front yard, the yard sprinkler control system and a breaker box to the house.

An electrician also responded to the scene. Fire crews were still at the home as of 9:00 p.m.
