Fair leaders don’t want to move event in 2016
Leaders with the Boone County Fair do not want to switch locations for 2016, but at the moment, the event’s future remains very uncertain.
The board president spoke to a local political group in Columbia on Friday about where the fair started, and where it is going.
He said it provides an irreplaceable service to the community and remains in a good spot, but the fair needs a permanent home.
“Ultimately I would like to stay there, it’s a beautiful facility, great location for everybody, but I would like to be given a long-term promise, contract. This year-to-year stuff is wearing on everybody,” said Jeff Cook, the Boone Co. Fair Board president.
Earlier this week, the Boone County Commission also talked about turning the property into a large sports complex.
