Two arrested for stealing, vandalism in Columbia

Early Tuesday morning, Columbia Police arrested a woman for driving a stolen vehicle into the parking lot of the Budget Host Inn.

Melody Kosmatka was arrested for felony tampering just before 1:00 a.m.

About an hour later, officers were called to the 200 block of 9th St. north for a report of vandalism.

Damien Tauber apparently stole a crow bar from a vehicle in the parking lot of 907 Ash Street and used it to damage another vehicle in the area.

Tauber allegedly smashed the car’s brake lights and windows before officers caught up to him

Tauber resisted arrest by pulling away from officers, and was taken into custody for property damage, resisting arrest, and stealing.
