Suspect in custody after high speed chase in Callaway County
Authorities in Callaway County have a suspect in custody after a high speed chase early Tuesday afternoon.
Viewers called ABC 17 News to report they saw someone driving nearly 100 mph through the area.
ABC 17 News confirmed the suspect, 24-year-old Kaharri Ray of Fulton, was driving on the west side of Fulton on Route F at around 12:00 p.m. when deputies in the area recognized him.
Deputies knew Ray had an active felony warrant for first degree burglary and 2nd degree assault out of Callaway County.
When the deputy tried to pull Ray over, he sped off and led deputies on a chase through Fulton. Ray got out of the car on West 7th St. and fled on foot until Fulton Police found him hiding and took him into custody.
Ray is currently in the Callaway County Jail for his original burglary and assault charges, in addition to several charges stemming from the car chase, including resisting arrest, drug possession, driving while revoked, and speeding.
The Callaway County Sheriff said a Fulton Police cruiser and a Highway Patrol vehicle collided near Fulton during the chase, causing damage to both vehicles. Neither driver was injured.
