Cole Co. agreement to bring 200 jobs to Jefferson City

Jefferson City will soon see nearly 200 new jobs after an agreement was signed Tuesday by Cole County commissioners.

That agreement will allow Continental Commercial Products or CCP to move its operations to the capital city.

The company would operate out of the old R.R. Donnelly facility that closed its doors in 2013, putting about 500 people out of work.

As part of the agreement, CCP has to hire at least 150 employees by the end of the year, and at least 30 more by the end of 2016.

Also part of the agreement, the city and county will be providing an incentive of $500,000 for the company’s infrastructure needs. $375,000 would come from Jefferson City and $150,000 from Cole County.

County officials are excited to see more jobs and economic development come back to Jefferson City.

“I just think we need more partnerships like this. This is great and this economic development is kind of an issue that everybody is talking about, and this just fell in place. We need more wins like this,” said Presiding Commissioner Sam Bushman.

Officials with the Jefferson City Chamber of Commerce said the moving process has already begin.
