Audit shows improvement in Howard County

A state audit shows improvements in a once troubled Mid-Missouri county.

Back in 2012, Howard County was given a poor rating after an audit exposed problems in financial management.

Official released a new audit on the county, bumping its rating up two levels to “good.”

The audit found the sheriff’s office still needs to make improvements to how it keeps track of receipts.

The audit also revealed the county also needs to keep better records of road improvement sales tax receipts.

In response to the audit, the county has already agreed to start making the noted changes.
