Facility for disabled employees opens in Randolph Co.

Officials in Randolph Co. celebrated the opening of a new facility that will employ more people with disabilities.

On Friday, a ribbon cutting was held for the new Randolph Co. Sheltered Industries Facility.

It is one of only two organizations in the area that offers work for people with disabilities, and officials said the new facility is making room for even more jobs.

“In the last three weeks, we have hire 5 new employees simply because of the material flow here. We hope to continue to increase that,” said Kit Brewer, Director of Sheltered Industries.

Voters approved funding for the new building back in 2010 through Proposition O.

The proposition brings in about $650,000 a year for disability services.
