Crisis Intervention team meets to discuss dealing with mentally ill

Police in Jefferson City got together Wednesday to discuss the importance of police learning how to handle a situation with someone who is mentally ill.

The Crisis Intervention Team highlighted the purpose of the council and talk about the police department’s involvement in CIT initiatives.

Officials with JCPD said the number of police interactions with people who suffer from mental illnesses are increasing.
