Fallen Columbia firefighter Lt. Bruce Britt recevies 2015 Ed Robb Award

The Boone County Republican Central Committee announced Sunday it has selected fallen Columbia firefighter Lieutenant Bruce Britt as the recipient of the 2015 Dr. Edward Robb award.

The Robb award is given to an employee of any city or public entity in Boone County for outstanding service.

Lieutenant Britt was killed last February in a balcony collapse while helping students evacuate from the University Village apartment complex in Columbia.

“With Lieutenant Bruce Britt, no greater sacrifice could someone give than he did,” said BCRCC chairman Rick Rowden. “He gave his life, so you know, he was just the unanimous choice.”

The award will be presented at the Boone County Republicans annual Lincoln Day banquet on April 10 at 5:30 p.m. at the Courtyard by Marriott.
