Jefferson City Boys & Girls Club plans new facility

The Boys and Girls Club in Jefferson City Monday revealed plans for a new facility.

ABC 17 first reported in August the building would be torn down at the old location for the Highway 50 expansion.

Officials for the club also launched its new “Light the Way Home” campaign to raise money for the location that will be on the Lincoln University campus.

“We’ve got the little kids that can interact with those teens and just kind of interact with kids that are a bit older than them, but also being on the campus, we’re getting a lot of mentors from Lincoln University. So, now the teens also get to see young adults that are trying to further their education. It’s almost like a natural progression for a child’s education,” said Dan Westhues, Capital Campaign Co-chair.

In all, the campaign needs to raise $2.2 million for the facility.
