Shots fired at Autozone on the Business Loop

Police said around 2 a.m. Sunday morning police received a shots fired call at Autozone on the Business Loop in Columbia.

When they got there they said no one was around, but found shell casings in the parking lot.

There have also been no reports of anyone being injured.

However, business owners on Coats Street, which is right off the business loop, said there were hundreds of people gathered in the alley around one thirty.

Most business owners did not want to go on camera in fear of bringing negative attention to their business.

One man said their business is leaving as soon as their lease is up.

He said he was leaving his work last night and was waiting on a cab.

It took the cab driver thirty minutes to get from one end of the alley to the other.

He said people gather here after the bars in Columbia close each weekend and it’s not unusual for them to gather on Coats Street.

He pointed out several bullet holes in the side of the building, as well as where they have patched up bullet holes in the electric pole on the building.

He said there was another shooting on the street just one month ago.

According to the Columbia Police Dispatch page there was another shots fired call in March of this year.

There was also a burglary in that same month.

In early August there was a robbery reported.
