One seriously injured in Boone Co. crash

One person was seriously injured following a Wednesday morning car crash in Boone County.

The accident happened just after 10:00 on Highway 40 near the Howard County line.

Officials at the scene said the car was driving east on Highway 40 when the driver lost control, went through the ditch, and hit a tree.

The female passenger in the car was found trapped and unconscious. She was immediately removed and taken to University Hospital. The driver was not hurt.

The Missouri State Highway Patrol is looking into the cause of the crash.
