Heavy rain delays some Mid-Missouri road work

Heavy rain has delayed some road projects around the area as storms rolled through Mid-Missouri Wednesday night and Thursday morning.

Scott Boulevard will still open as scheduled Friday night at around 8:00. Rain has not caused any serious delays on that project. The road will open to two-way traffic, but Columbia Public Works is asking drivers to still be cautious because the project will not be entirely finished.

However, overnight work on Clark Lane has experienced delays because of the weather. Crews were unable to continue work on widening shoulders Wednesday night. They will not work Thursday night because the shoulders will be too soft. Crews will continue Monday night beginning at 6:00 with partial lane closures overnight.

At Broadway and Highway 63, crews were supposed to pour concrete Thursday afternoon, but that got pushed back until Friday morning. There is a 12-hour delay on bridge work, but MoDOT said the project is expected to be completed on schedule by the 21st.
