Chuck Basye wins Republican primary for 47th District State Representative

The current State Representative in the 47th district, John Wright, now has a Republican competitor for the November elections.

Chuck Basye won the Republican primaries last night by nearly a third of the votes.

Basye is a marine veteran who is focused on education, jobs, and agriculture.

He’ll be facing incumbent John Wright, who was uncontested on the democratic side.

ABC 17 News caught up with Basye and he said he’ll be taking a few days off before he gets focused on campaigning once again.

“I’m a pro-life candidate, I believe in the second amendment 100%. I think I have all the qualitites it would take to be a good state representative,” Basye said.

He ran against Betsy Phillips. She told ABC 17 News she ran on a mission to get people’s basic freedoms back.

The 47th district covers parts of Boone, Cooper, Randolph and Howard counties.
