Columbia car crash knocks out power to hundreds

A car crash at the intersection of Stadium Boulevard and Worley Street knocked out power to hundreds of people in Columbia Monday morning. Power was fully restored by around noon. Columbia fire and emergency crews were called to that intersection around 7:05 a.m. because a car and struck and knocked over a utility pole.

One person in the car refused medical treatment at the scene.

A high-voltage pole at the northwest corner was hit, knocking out power to about 267 Water and Light customers.

The crash and emergency response closed all lanes of traffic on Stadium for nearly one hour.
